SUBJECT: Peterson Air & Space Museum Volunteer Staff Meeting, 3 Oct 03

1. Meeting was called to order by Secretary WEAVER at 0900 hours in the Old City Hangar.

2. OLD BUSINESS:

a. FINANCE REPORT: Financial status as of 30 Sept 03 was presented to and accepted by the staff. (WEAVER)-INFO)

Income: $1,317.75

Expenditures: $72.84

Unrestricted: $16,405.10

Restricted: $6,317.55

b. GIFT SHOP: Income for Sept 03: $935.75 (WEAVER-INFO-FULKERSON on Lv)

c. CITY HANGAR DESIGN (CES): No Change. Still awaiting completion of design. (DR RUWELL-OPEN)

d. P-47 RESTORATION: Work day 4 Oct 03) Further evaluation of the aircraft revealed further sanding is required prior to any painting (EDWARDS-INFO-MCCORKLE ON LV)

e. EC-121T RESTORATION: AIRINC indicates door may be completed week of 6 Oct 03. Seat should also be completed during the same week. Inside cleaning accomplish 23 Sep 03 in preparation of installation of seats-thanks to the Pikes Peak Combined Spouse Club (see web site). (EDWARDS-INFO-MCCORKLE ON LV)

f. HAWK LAUNCHER: The launcher arrived from China Lake. Will need some restoration work. Plan being developed. (EDWARDS-INFO-MCCORKLE ON LV)

g. WEB SITE: 6800 hits to date. (SMALLEY-INFO)

h. EQUIPMENT TURN IN: No Change (RUWELL-OPEN)

i. ACCESSION/ARTIFACTS ROOM: 85 Accessions and catalog of books for Educational Library are complete. 2155 visitors, 30 volunteers worked 706 hours during the month of Sep 03. (EDWARDS)

j. B-17 & P-38 MODELS UPDATE: P-38 will be delivered to the Museum In May 04. Dr Ruwell will meet with Bill Sheeves after today's meeting to discuss transfer of the B-17 model to the Museum. (DR RUWELL-INFO)

k. ADC EXHIBIT: Next meeting is 7 Oct 03. Marty ISHAM (unofficial ADC Historian) will meet with the working group and will share some of his views. He has already provided a large number of pictures and artifacts for our review. (MCKINNEY-INFO)

3. NEW BUSINESS:

a. CLEAR ARTIFACTS: 16,000 lbs of materials will be delivered to the Museum 9-10 Oct 03. Most is for AFSPC/HO office. (DR RUWELL-INFO)

b. CMOC: Gen Gray and Dr Ruwell made a site visit to look at equipment that could be transferred to the Museum (DR RUWELL-OPEN)

c. STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION: Went well. Minutes being completed (WEAVER-INFO)

d. F-106 WISH LIST: Erv Smalley developed a wish list for the F-106. Drop tanks, pylons, missing instruments and console panels, stick grip and seat pack. Dr Ruwell will submit the list. She also suggested that perhaps the extra T-33 should be trucked to DM and we could return F-106 parts. RUWELL will investigate several options. (OPEN-DR RUWELL)
