The following is a list of Museum closures. This list will be updated with any changes:
The Peterson Air & Space Museum will be closed from 1 June through 17 July for building repairs. We apologize for any inconvenience.
VISITOR INFORMATION
DAYS/HOURS OF OPERATION:
10:00AM – 3:00PM, Wednesday through Friday
CLOSED SATURDAY THROUGH TUESDAY AND FEDERAL HOLIDAYS
Visitors With Department of Defense ID: You may escort non-DOD members only after you have taken your visitors into the Visitor Control Center and sponsored them for a visitor pass. They must ride in your vehicle.
Visitors Without Department of Defense ID: You must request a visitor pass from the museum staff before 1:00pm Mountain Standard Time 3 full business days before your intended visit date.
To request your pass, email us at:staff@petemuseum.org. Include the following:
- A point of contact name, email address and phone number
- The date and time of your visit
- The full names, dates of birth, and drivers’ license numbers (and state of issue) of all attendees 16 years old and older
- If no drivers’ license, then the number of a state/federal issued ID
- The number of children under 16 years old
- NOTE: If for whatever reason you cannot supply the above information, you cannot be issued a visitor pass
On the day of your approved visit: Go to the Visitor Control Center. All adults (16 years old and up) must go into the VCC and sign-on to get your paper pass.
- Vehicle drivers must be able to present vehicle registration, insurance and a valid driver’s license.
- Other adults must also have either a driver’s license, passport or state issued photo ID when they sign in.
- NOTE: Your ID must be REAL-ID compliant. It should have one of these symbols on the upper right corner of the front of the card:

Scheduling A Group Tour:
Contact us at staff@petemuseum.org to schedule a group tour. If you need to visit outside of our normal days, we will do our best to accommodate you if docent support can be provided, but this is not guaranteed. Once you receive confirmation from us, proceed directly to the West/Main Gate on the date of your tour. Your information will be listed on an Entry Access List for the museum. Ensure all adults have photo ID ready, and vehicle drivers have proof of insurance and registration available for Security Forces to view. Please do not bring a group tour to the museum without first scheduling with the staff – even if you have base access.
Scheduling A Military Event:
Military ceremonies and events will be supported Mondays through Fridays. Contact us at staff@petemuseum.org to schedule an event.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: For any visit or tour, the Museum director may contact individuals or tour group’s point of contact up to 6:00PM the day before the scheduled visit/tour to cancel due to inclement weather.
FIREARMS, WEAPONS AND DRUGS ARE PROHIBITED: Visitors found with firearms, weapons or drugs will be turned over to the Colorado Springs police department.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS: If you are using GPS, enter 1334 W. Stewart Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80914 (Visitor Control Center – VCC – address). Travel onto Powers Blvd and take the Airport Road exit.
Follow the signs for the Airport Road East ramp. This will lead you to Stewart Ave. Visitors without a DOD ID must go into the VCC (red brick building) to receive a base visitor pass.
Visitors with DOD ID, or after they have received a pass from the VCC, proceed to the West Gate. After you have been cleared, continue on Stewart Ave to the intersection with Peterson Blvd.
Turn right onto Peterson Blvd. Then turn left onto Ent Ave. Parking is available in front of the Museum.
